ABOUT

Hello! My name is Michelle Buchman, I’m a social media and digital strategist living in Los Angeles, CA. I'm also a writer and have written for various publications online and in print, see here for examples. An avid cinephile and TV fan, I’m a lover of genre and nerd culture (particularly horror/sci-fi). I have over 10 years of experience in social media marketing and digital strategy, with an emphasis on fandom brands and properties.

When not working, you can find me watching movies, using my collection of old film cameras, or reading the unending stack of books in my “to-read” pile. I also play pinball (and Galaga!) competitively for fun in a local league in the LA area.

Experience

My experience includes a wide range of positions in social media and digital marketing including Social Media Manager for Star Wars with The Walt Disney Company/Lucasfilm, Social Media Manager at Nerdist, Social Media Analyst for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Social Media Manager for BDCWire (a Boston Globe Media site), Social Media and Communications Assistant for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture + Planning, Social Media Manager and Content Writer for mobile app developer Raizlabs, working at Massachusetts College of Art and Design as a Marketing and Communications Assistant, wandering the halls of the American Repertory Theater as a Production Assistant during their acclaimed production of Sleep No More, and hitting the pavement in 2008 for Barack Obama in New Hampshire as a Campaign Worker.

Additionally, I am a RottenTomatoes approved film writer, and have written for various publications including StarWars.com, Nerdist.com, Bright Wall/Dark Room, BDCWire.com, and more. In the past, I’ve worked as a freelance web designer and writer for local Boston, MA area musicians including iExperia and Glow Boston. Additionally, I’ve worked as a consultant for several high-profile clients, advising on social media and digital content strategy for screenwriters and filmmakers.
